MEZUZAH IS THE HEBREW WORD FOR DOORPOST. IT IS A CASE THAT IS HUNG ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DOOR AS ONE ENTERS THE HOUSE OR A ROOM (EXCEPT BATHROOMS), CONTAINING A SCROLL WITH THE FOLLOWING PASSAGES:

“Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One…” (Deut.6:4-9)

and;

“And if you will carefully obey my commandments…” (Deut.11:13-21)

THE MEZUZAH SIGNIFIES THE COVENANT TO GOD:

“AND THESE WORDS WHICH I COMMAND YOU THIS DAY … YOU SHALL WRITE THEM ON THE DOORPOSTS OF YOUR HOUSE AND ON YOUR GATES.” (DEUT.6:9)
